MSG#191 10/21/2004 13:16:38 FROM WA7NWP TO N4RVE
SUBJECT: winlink email on VHF
PATH: N4RVE
Greetings o nomadic one.
---
Winlink is picking up steam and is now commonly availableon VHF packet. The server that connects the packet world to the winlink system on the web is called TELPAC. You can connect to a TELPAC node either with a Winders XP client called PACLINK or using a minimal BBS mode from any dumb packet system. That's the magic of it. You/I can do real Email just about anywhere now with a packet system no more complex then an HP-95 or Apple Powerbook. (there's a joke there somewhere.)
---
When I'm on my dialup, you can access Winlink from here by connecting to ELYSSA, to MINOT, to WA7NWP-3.
---
Basic commands when connected (H for more) are:
LM - list mine
KM # - kill message
SP SMTP:wordy(at)microship.com - to send email
RM # - read message
BYE - log off
---
Other TELPAC stations in Washington are:
(from: http://www.winlink.org/status/TelpacEx.aspx )
W7BO 145.090 1200 CN85PV WOODLAND,WA
WA7NWP-3 145.630 1200 CN86MR Centralia, Wa
W7IJ 145.070 1200 CN86SV Olympia, WA
W7NTF-4 145.010 1200 CN87 SPANAWA

KC7RRH-5 145.670 1200 CN87UG Auburn, WA
K7AAE 144.950 1200 CN87XS Woodinville,WA
---
There many more nodes in BC that may be useful. Note that this is associated with the Airmail HF system. The n4rve AT winlink.org email you'll access with TELPAC is the same email you could access from HF with the Airmail application.

Hope this helps - see you on down the blog.

Wetnet SETI for October

For the past couple years I've been archiving the monthly SETI totals of our Wetnet group on the wiki. Since the Wiki hasn't yet made the move over to the colocated server and is currently off line -- I'll save this months numbers here. I aim for the 15th of the month but sometimes, like this month, I'm a bit off.
